Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment using new accessories. They can also improve its stats base or add additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot gathered by enemies or received from chests and missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an item of armor, the player must choose it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade stats will be, as well as the element or material required to complete the upgrade.
There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be put in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of the item's name. For example adding a Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in several key ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
If an item is leveled out in this way, it is able to receive an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level it is able to receive affixes that will increase its features. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the type of item it is. For example the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will have no more than two affixes for it, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade step will require a certain number of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a different set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, item upgrades has a lower chance of success.
Engineers may use a level in order to measure the height of the building with a known location, such as an existing benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high standard of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important element of the game that can boost the strength, damage or other characteristics. You can do this through the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be used sparingly.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than others. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This could be a positive or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and expectations from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may also have a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added in addition to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better your chance of obtaining the bonus of a different kind.
The game also includes a number of sets, that offer a set-based bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on the same unit. This is an excellent method to add lots of power to a specific character without spending a lot of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. Rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in a variety of ways. They can be of different dimensions, have no elements, or only have a single element. They can be used to organize data or to sort information. They are also useful in studying patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.
There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that provide high defense values and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already huge.

Certain set items are upgraded to meet their own unique functions, which can be particularly useful in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. ( item upgrader and Level requirements also increased).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items up to par with the different tiers. For instance the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items could increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the required items to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed, along with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will result in a significant increase in their stats. It will also boost the defense value of armor that has an updated appearance.
